It has become a New York institution earning dozens of accolades, including six James Beard awards. Its impeccable, fiercely seasonal cooking, welcoming and convivial atmosphere, and steadfast commitment to hospitality are unparalleled. The restaurant has its own magic—a sense of community and generosity—that’s captured in these pages for everyone to bring home and savor through 125 recipes.   Restaurateur Danny Meyer’s intimate story of how Gramercy was born sets the stage for executive chef-partner Michael Anthony’s appealing approach to American cooking and recipes that highlight the bounty of the farmer’s market. With 200 sumptuous photographs and personal stories, The Gramercy Tavern Cookbook also gives an insider look into the things that make this establishment unique, from the artists who have shaped its décor and ambience, to the staff members who share what it is like to be a part of this close-knit restaurant family. Above all, food lovers will be inspired to make memorable meals and bring the warmth of Gramercy into their homes.

Reminded me of the Eleven Madison cookbook. Same people, same type of setup. Stories about the people who work, a bit about the design of the restaurant and a lot about their approach. The main difference is that these recipes are more approachable and doable for the home cook. This is another cookbook that encourages you to ignore their recipes and ingredients. Beautiful shots of food. There are no aha moments for me here. Enjoyable read.

Loved every minute of this wonderful cookbook! Wonderful recipes and the stories about them that make them enticing. We meet the crew of GT, learn what they've added to the, tapestry of the, place and the food. We are also introduced to new ingredients and new ways to cook with familiar kitchen staples.

Strawberry pie was a winner! Bacon cheddar biscuits fell short of my dreams. It's a beautiful book, great pictures and text. The recipes are solidly written and accompanied by terrific photos. Book works in the kitchen and on the coffee table.

This cookbook really didn't do a whole lot for me. I felt that most would be difficult to make for an unprofessional chef to prepare. I must admit that the desserts were rockin' and I would def. be preparing those.

The ingredients were too exotic and the processes too complicated to interest me. Not likely that I would enjoy this restaurant.

An oversized book with lots of good recipes and photography. I don't feel like I could take any of them on right now, but many will enjoy this.

I wasn't really inspired to try any of the recipes, but I did enjoy learning and thinking about the amount of work that goes into a starred restaurant. And gorgeous photographs.
